3 Exciting Kid-Friendly Halloween Alternatives For 2021

September 1, 2021 By WellJourn

For a lot of people, the pagan-like feel of Halloween makes it unsuitable for Autumn celebrations. On the other hand, the underlying reason for celebrations is the fall harvest, so parents look for enjoyable alternatives to the more traditional Halloween festivities. These 3 kid-friendly activities for preschool students are only a starting point for your fall festival ideas, but they should give some great ideas to expand upon.

  1. Fire Pit Smores

Graham crackers, marshmallows, and chocolate. These 3 things are going to bring a smile to the face of most children even before adding the heat of a fire pit or campfire to create an ooey-gooey treat. While enjoying the snacks, you can play a game where each person adds a new sentence to a story as it is being told. This campfire favorite has been creating wacky results since time immemorial, with each generation rediscovering the fun of the game.

  1. Pumpkin Carving

Pumpkin carving has come a long way since the days when a Jack-O-Lantern was the only result. Today’s carved pumpkins take on many designs, from sunsets to animation characters, and new-age carving tools are even safe for small hands. For the smallest kids, scooping out the pumpkin innards is a discovery all by itself as they explore the insides of a pumpkin in all its messy glory.

  1. Seasonal Crafts

Whether you are celebrating Halloween or having a Fall Festival, kids love making crafts. Paper plate pumpkins, pipe cleaner and construction paper scarecrows, and crafts like painted pine cones or cardboard cornucopias are all fall favorites that are suitable for any celebration of the season. Orange is the predominant color of Autumn and is often complemented by black, such as streamers of orange and black hanging across the room.

There are plenty of fall-themed activities for children to get their hands on, from making fun snacks to creating original crafts. You don’t have to go Trick-or-Treating or fill every room with goblins and ghosts to take part in fun celebrations for the harvest season. Even something as simple as a trip to visit a country farm is perfect for experiencing more of what the season is about.
